Fall Protection in Steep Terrain

2025-03-05-Fallsikring i bratt lende

This course is designed for those who operate in exposed terrain where the use of fall protection equipment is, or may occasionally become, necessary to ensure safe movement.
This course is intended for individuals operating in exposed terrain, such as accessing work sites, inspections, retrieving equipment, or rescuing distressed people or animals. It provides training in relatively simple equipment that can be used in various situations and terrains, with particular emphasis on anchoring techniques in natural settings. The course strongly focuses on barrier understanding and terrain assessment. It is not a rope access course.

Key topics covered in the course:

*Proper use of passive safety measures, such as safety lanyards, vertical lifelines, and "handrail ropes."
* Effective use of active safety measures, such as long support straps.
* Safe anchoring of fall protection equipment to trees, poles, and similar structures.
* Performing basic rescue operations for colleagues.
* Conducting buddy checks and user inspections of the equipment taught in the course.
* Understanding the risks associated with the use of fall protection and rescue equipment.
* Complying with employee and employer obligations regarding the use of fall protection and potential rescue operations.
