AAK Safety's training facility in Larvik/Steinsholt is idyllically situated by the Numedalslågen river in the northern part of Larvik municipality, 30 km northeast of Skien and Larvik town centers, and approximately 100 km southwest of Oslo.
Our training facility at Steinsholt boasts excellent spaces for both practical training and theory. We are located right next to the Høyt & Lavt climbing park and can, at times, utilize parts of these facilities when it is suitable. This provides our course participants with airy and recognizable surroundings.
The nearest airport is Torp Airport in Sandefjord, 45 minutes away. Oslo Gardermoen Airport is two hours away. If you are traveling by train from Oslo or Kristiansand, Larvik station is the closest stop. You find updated routes and schedules on Vy's website.
If you are traveling by car from the south along E18, take the exit onto Highway 40 approximately 4.5 km after Larvik. Follow Highway 40 for 35 km. Take a right turn, following the sign for Høyt & Lavt. AAK Safety is located in the same building as the climbing park. If you are coming from Oslo and driving south on E18, it is 45 km from E18 between Torp and Sandefjord to our training center. After crossing E18 over the Numedalslågen river, take the exit at Bommestadkrysset and follow Highway 40 for 35 km, then turn right and follow the signs for Høyt & Lavt.
The nearest accommodation is Gavelstad Gjestegård, which is nine minutes away from our training center at Steinsholt. Lindsverk gjestegård, Nedre Tanum gjestegård, and Brufoss hytte og laksesenter are also good alternatives, all located 10-15 minutes away from our training center. Other accommodation options can be found in hotels in Larvik, Skien, or Tønsberg, 30 minutes away.
AAK Safety is located next to Høyt & Lavt Klatrepark (High & Low Climbing Park). The park is Norway's largest climbing park and is well worth a visit. Check their website for more information. For those interested in fishing, AAK Safety is right by one of Norway's best salmon rivers, Numedalslågen. There are plenty of natural experiences in the area, Lågendalen offers salmon, nature, culture, and activities. There is a great cross-country skiing trail network in the winter.
Kjærra Fossepark has a lot to offer in all seasons. You can walk among old historical fishing structures almost without seeing another person. Be impressed by the fantastic nature with the river cascading into the narrow waterfalls.
If you are more interested in city life, Larvik and Skien are just a short half-hour away, or an hour to Drammen, Horten, and Tønsberg.
